Maddie, I'm obsessed with all of these collaboration-style posts you've been doing recently! You're introducing me to so many interesting, talented folks! Erin's tip about always pairing a wine that's sweeter than your meal is brilliant and easy to remember. I am also celebrating you BIG TIME for getting your first YouTube videos out! I can't wait to watch them. Bravo!
Marissa, you're going to adore Erin's work! And I totally agree: she presented so many of these "rules"/tips in such memorable ways that I'll be carrying them forward with me, too. (The one about pairing spicy food with low ABV wine was a big a-ha moment.)
Can't tell you how much I appreciate your cheerleading on the video front. It means the world to me! 🤗
My own video making skills are probably even worse than my pizza-making skills, so trying to emulate you would be a hopeless endeavour. But I'm happy to admire your work and soak up Erin's wine tips!
Don’t sell yourself short, Jeffrey! I bet with a little practice, you’d be great at both. Regardless, I think you might have the right idea: just kicking back with a glass of wine instead 😅
The perfect “pairing”: Maddie and Erin! Fantastic post, now I’m going back in to watch the videos, Maddie — love that you took the leap and are doing them! 👏
I really enjoyed watching these videos, Maddie! You’re so well spoken on camera. Curious if you ever used the Ooni baking steel pan? I’m inspired to bake a pizza, though just in my traditional oven for now 😊
Caroline, I'm so delighted to hear this—thank you so much! (FWIW, the "well-spoken" thing definitely comes from a script + careful editing. But with practice, I hope that starts to feel more natural. 🤞)
I haven't used a baking steel yet...though I do have a baking stone, which has made a huge difference when I bake bread. Once it gets cold and rainy, I'll transition to home oven pizza-baking, at which point I do plan on buying a steel...it's Ali Stafford's pick for great home oven pizzas, and I really trust her guidance!
If you buy + use one first, please do report back. 🤗
ok I LOVE this! How cool that you're trying Youtube, and like you said, it'll get better from here :) I'm actually doing a depth year of learning Mandarin Chinese. Slow but steady so far.
Sarah, I love your Depth Year project! Similar to my pizza + YouTube journey, it'd be so cool if you could somehow track your progress to see how much you learn. Even though each day's progress is slow, I bet your progress over a full year will be immense.
Maddie!!!! The camera LOVES you!!!! These videos are so good! Definitely NOT terrible. The pizzas and salad also look delicious! 😍 I love this project! So so proud of you. Being on camera and filming is not easy and you’ve made it look like a breeze ❤️🔥
I need to hire you as my official cheerleader, Jenovia! Thank you 🥰 Your last sentence really got me, because you're right: figuring all this stuff out was the *polar opposite* of a breeze. So "looking like a breeze" is genuinely the highest compliment 😅
happy leaping on your new video additions! this was a lovely, lovely feature writer, and it was nice to read how much excitement for pizza was brewing! also, the names of wines always get me and this one was no exception.
How perfectly thematic! 🥳 I think I remember that you're in DC, yes? I went to college there, and went to Pizzeria Paradiso as much as I could afford. Your comment just brought me back!
I’ve never been there but I’m marking it down! I’m going to a place called Tonari this weekend and it’s a Japanese Italian restaurant…very excited to try those pizzas.
OK this place looks *heavenly.* Have a blast—I hope it's as good as it looks 🤞 My dad lives in MD, so I come back often...bookmarking Tonari for my next visit!
Brenna, this made me cackle—the Neapolitan accent part, I mean! As my resident authority on all things Neapolitan, your opinion carries serious weight 😁

Love the YouTube videos! They are definitely not terrible. And the framing of cooking as a hobby. So excited for your year of pizza!
Jamie, you're the best, as you well know. Thank you so much—I truly appreciate the support! 😁

This was such a fun (and delicious) idea, Maddie! Thank you for including me! 🍕🥂
The honor is all mine, Erin! I learned so much from you and, unsurprisingly, had a *delightful* time to boot. 🥰
🥂🤗
Congrats on this fabulous endeavor, Maddie! xo
You're the best cheerleader, Sandra—thank you so much! 🤩
Good job on this! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much, Paolo—really appreciate your kind words!
This makes me so happy. Pizza + a new creative pursuit + wine = pure gold.
Couldn't agree more—these are three of life's greatest pleasures!

Isn’t Erin the loveliest?! And her pairing taught me so much. I’m so happy to hear that you enjoyed this one! 🥳
I love this! And coincidentally I tried a new pizza shop today!!!
How perfectly thematic! 🥳 I think I remember that you're in DC, yes? I went to college there, and went to Pizzeria Paradiso as much as I could afford. Your comment just brought me back!

My mouth is watering - I want the pizza, salad and wine! Yum!
Thank you so much, my friend—reminds me that I still have to try the awesome-looking Leitz non-alcoholic wine you recommended!
Wow so cool Maddie! You are a natural on camera! 🍕 soon you’ll have a Neapolitan accent 🍕
