I didn't mean to make you cry, Dad!! Sending you a big virtual hug for your sweet comment, and for sharing. I loved revisiting travel memories with you in person this week! 🥰
These wise words + Baby Maddie in Scotland = maybe my favorite post of yours so far! There truly is nothing better than staying put at home sometimes. But, we should definitely travel together to Budapest/Tokaj region or perhaps Hebrides at some point!
Oh, believe me: I had you in mind as I listed out those someday-travel destinations! 🥰 My last big trip with you was so special and memorable that I think we're way overdue for another one.
Also: please know that your sweet compliment totally made my day. Thank you so, so much, my friend. I'm very happy that you enjoyed this one!
This is beautiful, Maggie. It's the whole, "No matter where you go, there you are," thing for me. I'm a good traveller, but a terrible tourist. I make myself right at home, fall into a routine, and like it that way. My week in Dublin, a place I miss and can't wait to get back to, was the first time I travelled alone (accidentally, long story), and it was the best experience. I don't know when I'll get on a plane again (I'm a NOVID and can't believe how people act on planes these days, so not entirely enthused about the prospect). Maybe Hawaii to break the ice next year. Maybe Spain if I feel adventurous. But, I like where I live and am happy to be at home. I'm near the beach, two hours from Palm Springs. I can make a mad dash to one or the other when I need a change of scenery. But I always have to bring something to write on. Laptop or notebook. Never know when inspiration will strike. And, what your dad said, keep writing, young person! xo
So much juicy stuff in here, Sandra. 🍑 "Wherever you go, there you are" is advice I constantly need to relearn! I'm also imagining a solo trip to Dublin and it sounds...completely delectable, even if accidental. (Also, I totally want to hear that story sometime.)
And your point about always toting a notebook along is so necessary. While in Vancouver, I found myself stopping five separate times on a seafront run to write down post ideas!
Maddie, this beautiful piece brought me tears. Keep writing, young person! Oh, and I posted it on Twitter, so new followers can see it.

Thank you for your amazing writing 💕
Beautiful. I experience you “finding your place in this world” through your words. It’s quite powerful. 💛
One sentence at a time. Thank you so, so much, Kimberly 🤗
This is beautiful. I love the idea of finding your own "spot" to travel and making it your own :)
Thank you so much, Chris! It’s a sentiment that’s really stuck with me, too. ☺️
