I’ve really been loving your insights since I read the interview with you. It’s like it came at the right time for me. I feel like I’m on the cusp of something and one (pretty major) thing is that I have to take a big chunk of leave from my job, possibly 6 months, to take care of my daughter following surgery. I feel like I’m on the cusp of something and one (pretty major) thing is that I have to take a big chunk of leave from my job, possibly 6 months, to take care of my daughter following surgery. It’s obviously huge for her and for me it’s a change that I have a feeling may lead on to something else but don’t know what. This idea of depth strikes me too. I like that idea of a project and seeing what will happen. I did a year of daily yoga, a year of not buying anything new, and right now I’m learning piano. I love the idea of the one cookbook. Depth I think is also about simplicity and slowing down, reducing a cognitive load. That’s what I’m craving. And to learn something, as an adult. There is something so beautiful in that.
This means the world to me—thanks so much for dropping a comment here to let me know! I'll be keeping both you and your daughter in my thoughts during this time of big changes for *both* of you.
I'm also holding on to your reflections on your Depth Year experiments as I embark on my own project. Yes to simplicity, and slowing down, and learning new things—all of it. 🤗
