Where you, your mom's memory, baked goods, Impressionists and Paris come to a crossroads, reincarnation definitely exists! And, you have the camera eye to capture it beautifully! XOXOX
Probably the pain perdu at a bakery named Mamiche...it's hard to describe, but it's a loaf of custard-soaked brioche with this amazing caramelized crust. So: it's basically like an entire loaf of French toast?!?! It was out of this world.
Oh Maddie, what a beautiful description of time spent with your mama. It brought tears to my eyes as your words often do when sharing her with us. Thank you. I love how you've turned Valentine's Day into one of honor and remembrance. Plus all the little signs along the way!!!! Ahhhh!!! She was with you that day...and every day. Sending you both so much love. These updates are the highlight of my week!!! Thinking about your bravery, your determination in the face of immense grief and sorrow, doing it all anyway and with such charming humor and acceptance. Makes my heart swell. I am so damn proud of you. Your mama is too. 💘
Valentine's Day is a bittersweet day now in my book...but since discovering your writing, I've also come to look forward to seeing what you publish mid-February because of its significance in your world. I definitely feel a special kinship with you on the subject of grief and sorrow, but *also* living fully in the face of it. Thank you for your meaningful note, Jenovia! 🥹
“For Valentine’s Day, they were making pain chocolat riz soufflé—a cocoa-infused bread dough adorned with puffed rice—braided into the shape of a heart.”
Um this sounds and looks amazing. I’m sure your mom is excited for your incredible adventure ❤️
The serendipity of the madeline, the memory and the Musee…no words. You wrote that so beautifully I could feel your mom’s spirit threaded throughout and within you. ❤️
Lovely news to read after waking up this morning, Maddie. Such a wonderful way to honor your Mom on the anniversary. I am sure she received your Valentine. Sending love to you from cold, snowy Maine. 💕
You're in Paris now; it's "champagne problems." xo
...Sandra, I don't know how to tell you this, but we are *literally* visiting Champagne on Friday 😂
Enjoy every sip of it! xo

Doing my best, my friend! 😮💨
I know your mom would be thrilled to see you getting the opportunity to experience all this. ❤️
Reading these posts makes me both very hungry and very full.
This is truly the kindest sentiment...thank you so much, Chris ❤️ (And believe me, I feel your pain on the second point...!)
What has been your favorite eat so far?
